Rules

1) Be nice: Respect other characters and other muns. This is the Golden Rule. You don’t need to get along famously but respect is key.

2) No Godmodding: Don’t try and play the character you’re threading with. Every action must be an attempt and only succeed if the other mun agrees. If unsure, PM the mun or the mods for explanation.

3) OOC =/= IC. IC =/= OOC: Keep in mind that you are just playing a character. You are not your character and your character isn’t you. If you’re having problems, contact a mod. We will not tolerate drama.

4) Tagging: Please tag each post with your character’s first and last name for easy reference.

Subject lines: Please add into the subject line of your post what is happening.
Examples; [Video], [Audio], [Text], [Log with Character], [Log at Location]
Please do not leave the subject line blank.

5) PBs: Having two characters with the same actor/actress as their player base is allowed as long as there is no recognition between those characters.

6) Adult Content: If your characters are doing anything of a sexual nature or similar, please move it (or start it) in your journal. Please also put this under a cut. This is to stop younger members of the community from seeing what they shouldn't.

7) Activity Check: This happens on the first of each month. You will have five days to submit your activity for the previous month. Characters on hiatus will be exempt from Activity Check but please do not use this as a get-out clause.

To pass Activity Check, we require one post by your character to the community per month or 20 comments in other posts throughout the month. You can provide several links as long as the total adds up to at least twenty.




FAQ

Where is my character?
Your character has arrived in the world of Avatar. They could wake up almost anywhere. If they have a bending ability, they will start of somewhere in that Nation. Waterbenders in one of the poles, Earthbenders in the Earth Kingdom, Firebenders in the Fire Nation and Airbenders in one of the four temples. If your character does not possess a bending ability, your character will most likely appear in the Earth Kingdom as it is the largest Nation geographically, but it is completely up you.

How will my character communicate with others?
When you character arrives, he or she will be carrying certain items. One of which will be used to communicate with the other characters at the game.

Can you explain more about the items?
Sure! Each character can have up to five items from home when they arrive. These items must be either; on the person when they are pulled in, near the person when they are pulled in or hold very high significance to the person.
Also, you cannot have the same items as another character in your fandom. For example: James Potter brings the Invisibility Cloak with him. This means that Harry Potter cannot.

Do you accept OCs or AUs?
Original Characters are allowed but remember to use the correct application. Fandom OCs and AU characters will be accepted on a case by case basis. Please contact a mod if you wish to apply.

How many characters can I apply for?
Canon Characters: You can apply for two characters per month. You may only have two characters per fandom as long as you don't need to constantly playercest.

Original Characters: You can apply for one character per month. YOu may only have two OCs.

You may have five characters overall. This may be extended in the future.

How many reserves can I have?
You may reserves two characters per month and each reserve last for one week, with an extension of one week. If there is a challenge application, an extension will not be given.

Does my character still have their fandom powers?
As they would be getting new powers, fandom powers would be lost. You're welcome to give them a bending power similar to their fandom powers but they will lose any knowledge of having it in the past. Fandom powers include those given because they are a certain race which is not human. Any abilities learned will be kept.

What if my character isn't human?
If your character is humanoid, such as a vampire or a werewolf, then they simply become human. If you're hoping to apply a dog or a dinosaur then I'm afraid the answer is no.

Can I apply for characters from Avatar: The Last Airbender?
Yes and No. These requests will be taken on a case by case basis and will be under close scrutiny as they are the main characters of the world we're playing from. If you wish to play a character from Avatar: The Last Airbender, please contact a mod who will advise you further.

What about playercesting?
Well it's not going to be banned but please do stay away from it as much as possible. But if its necessary, then it will be allowed.

My character's a bender in a category where there's a different type of bending, (i.e.- metal, sand, lightning, blood, healing). Could my character learn how to do that?

For all the benders out there, it is possible, but for each sub-set of bending, you'll need to meet a few requirements. The most obvious one being that you need to be a bender in the main category that the sub-set belongs to. The second and most important one is that you should have had this character in-game for about four to six months.

Metalbending: Those familiar with the series will know Toph is the only earthbender able to bend metal. But after the war she travelled to teach it to others. Your character cannot start with this ability but they can find someone to teach it to them. Minimum amount of time in game: Four months.

Sandbending: This technique is unique to the earthbenders of the Si Wong Desert who do not take well to outsiders. Maybe if your earthbender got stranded somewhere with a lot of sand, they'd be able to figure it out. Minimum amount of time in game: four months, if figuring it on their own, six months if they want to risk looking for the sandbenders in the desert... and you better be well prepared before entering.

Lightningbending/redirection: Currently, there are only two known firebenders with this ability that aren't stripped of their bending or suffering from a psychotic break down. So that leaves Zuko and Iroh. They will have taught this down the generations and you may find yourself face to face with a player or NPC willing to teach you. Just... don't ask to learn to generate lightning. Minimum amount of time in game: six months.

Bloodbending: This is yet to be determined.

Healing: Healing is a trait that waterbenders can learn and it's usually woman that have this ability as the men go into battle. But either gender of character can learn after a certain number of months spent at either Pole. Minimum amount of time in game: three months.

I have a question! Will healing abilities for waterbenders be included as a possible ability to surface after X months?

Another question here.

Part of the appeal of this game is how vast the game is, and how much the players will have to explore but that also brings up a concern--how will travel work exactly?

Especially in the beginning when we have few characters, having them all so spread out will make face to face interaction a bit difficult. Is there going to be something, even if only temporary until the game gets bigger, that can bring the characters together? Like a method of travel or some event?

With the game being Post-Legend of Korra, there maybe some new developments in technology over the years that will help with the transportation side of the game.

As such, there will be ships made from the Fire Nation for the Firebenders and such to use. And some Airbenders will be able to find gliders and perhaps even a sky bison to help with their travels.

The show doesn't have any ways of instantaneous travel and they won't be created solely to help the characters. But there may be event with the first month or so which brings the current characters together.

We don't want to give too much away about what we've planned but at the same time, we don't want to not give out the information that you need to make the decision on which to apply here or not. So I hope this helps. Please reply again if it does not and I will try to be more specific.

Okay this is entirely the wrong journal for me to be asking this question with, but.

Could I request the humanization aspect be expanded on? I'm considering a character who is, for all intents and purposes, human, but with demon blood (this would be Rin Okumura from Ao no Exorcist/Blue Exorcist, if you are familiar with the canon). To make the question short and to the point; he's got fangs and pointed ears and a tail, and I'm assuming these aspects would be nixed? But I'm just trying to get a feel for how and what and etcetera. :O

Yes. The fangs, pointed ears and tail would disappear to give the character the appearance of being human. But any personality traits and learned abilities would still remain. Just not those given by, in this case, the demon blood.

Is there an age minimum for characters? I noticed you have one for players so I'm just curious.
